Tramp stamps, also know as ho tags, slut tags, crack hats, slag tags, arse antlers, and other derogatory terms, are tattoos found on the lower backs of women just above the waist line, often showcased by wearing bare midriff tops and low rise jeans. This mode of personal expression caught on in the late 1990s and has increased in popularity ever since. Some say the term originally applied to ink designs of lesser quality, displayed specifically to attract attention and to emphasize sexual availability. Old school etiquette subscribers consider the display of back ink to be an indicator of sexual promiscuity. Now-a-days it seems those abrasive, discrediting terms, are attached to all lower back tattoos regardless of any truth or myth behind their meaning. Those who wear their tattoos proudly say, “tattoos don’t make someone a tramp … trashy behavior does.”

Should you decide one day that you no longer wish to be branded with the ink you once thought was so cool, you can use concealer or cover-up products such as Tattoo Camo, or you may opt to have it removed permanently via laser surgery like Geri Halliwell did. (See image below)

![]() Of course, if you’re lucky enough to be named “Barbie” you can just wash your tramp stamp off with soap and water!

Just for the record, lumbar tattoos on guys, are not referred to as tramp stamps. Why? I have no idea!

Some people are so derogatory against lower back tattoos. My man thinks mine is sexy as hell. Some are great some are not. Don’t let anyone tell you where and where not to get tattoos. I have 5 and i decided on all mine. LOL
