Bonobos are only found in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
These great apes are complex beings with profound intelligence,
emotional expression, and sensitivity,
and are one of humankind’s closest living relatives
sharing more than 98% of our DNA.

Because of illegal bushmeat trade,
baby bonobos are left as orphans
or put on the black market for sale as pets.
